Whispering Bill Anderson Nephew Dylan Hoyt Charged With Sexual Assault Of A Minor.

It looks as if aggressive behavior is a trait of Anderson Family.
Let's hope that the late Papa Jim, Nanny Elizabeth and sister Mary Anderson never had to bear the burden of guarding the family secrets of the abusive actions of their sons.

SUBMITTED By SWAIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

BRYSON CITY – On Saturday, April 10, the Swain County Sheriff’s Office, led by Lt. Carolyn Posey and assisted by Deputy Aaron Frost, arrested Dylan William Hoyt of 160 Papa Jim and Nannys Place Bryson City, NC on charges of sexual battery and 2nd degree forcible sexual offense. A search warrant was issued for the residence of Hoyt and his property. While executing this

Dylan Hoyt
warrant several items were seized from Hoyt’s property which revealed other evidence of unrelated crimes to include several drug charges.

After the evidence was reviewed by the Swain County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office, the decision was made to charge Hoyt with sexual exploitation of a minor.

On Tuesday April 13, the Swain County Sheriff’s Office served Hoyt with an additional 29 felony charges of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Swain County man is facing dozens of sex abuse charges
43 year old Dylan Hoyt is charged with sexual battery, first degree sexual offense and 29 counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Hoyt was co-owner of Pizza by the River, a restaurant in the Nantahala area near the whitewater rafting centers.

Authorities say the abuse happened in the Hoyt's camper just behind the restaurant. Investigators say a 17 year old boy told them Hoyt kissed him and raped him there. When they searched the camper, they found dozens of pornographic pictures of young boys, some of whom lived in the area.

Investigators fear there may be other victims who haven't come forward yet.

Always Thankful

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

Today I would like to repeat a former thought which is buried in what could be percieved as a whining complaint. ( I would like to affirm that my opinions are not complaints, just observations on the basis of my knowledge and experience.)

The one thing that I wish people would know about me is that I wake every day with a thankful heart.
I am thankful for small favors and HUGE favors.
And if you have ever helped me in any way I want to thank you.
If you've hurt me and and feel sorry, or even if you never feel bad about it, I have forgiven you and I am thankful.
(I have made as many mistakes as anyone else in human history. I hope that others have forgiven me in the same way that I have forgiven them. And for that forgiveness, I am thankful)
If you've never met me, or if you just read my silly ramblings and wonder about me. I am thankful for you.

That we are allowed to question and debate the issues of equality and social justice in public is reason to be thankful.
I'm thankul for freedom of speech and the freedom to question what should be believed.

I am thankful for being a survivor,
*for random acts of kindness from strangers,
*for a few TRUE friends
*for being in the most beautiful spot on earth at the most wonderful time in my life.

AND for each day which wakes me with fresh chances to find new adventures and begin a new wonderful life all over again.

If my ramblings ever give you reason to doubt how thankful I am... Just read this over again... Because no matter how difficult life can get, no matter how defeated one might feel... One can always find a snippet of hope... AND thats enough to make me feel thankful, and happy to be alive.

Do the wealthy buy thier way out of jail and accountability?

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

Do the wealthy buy thier way out of jail and accountability?
It would seem so for Tiger Woods, Roman Polanski and ALSO for Whispering Bill Anderson's Family.

At least it looks that way for the decendants and relatives of the
"Grand Ole Whispering Bill Anderson ". His nephews have been quite the news makers in the last few years.
First nephew Cambren "gets lost in a storm", leaving his boat full of drugs and then was quickly announced "presumed dead by his father"

Cambren's brother Dylan has also been in and out of jail, for everything from stealing "work tools" to rape and was recently charged with child molesting and meth.
On Tuesday April 13, the Swain County Sheriff’s Office served Dylan Hoyt with 29 felony charges of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Hoyt was held at the Swain County Detention Center under a $200,000.00 secured bond. His scheduled court appearance was Thursday, April 22 in Swain County North Carolina District Court.

Items of evidence collected by the Swain County Sheriff’s Office are pending submission to the SBI lab for review.

This incident is under further investigation for other possible victims; if you have information about the crimes, the Swain county Sheriff’s Office would like to know what you know 828-488-0159.

This same Dylan Hoyt retrieved his bro's boat down in FLORIDA a couple yrs ago. Cambren was qickly "presumed" dead after they found his boat and stash of drugs had been abandoned during a storm. They are related to whispering Bill Anderson and it all seems rather peculiar that while their criminal behavior continues to grow, the matters get dropped and swept under the rug. WHO is responsible for removing the news coverage of these incidents? Could it be a rich UNCLE BUBBA???

(Whiperin' Bill's Nephew Dylan was released from Swain County jail on a $125,000 secured bond which was reduced from the origianl $200,000. even while facing 29 felony charges.) (is this the wealthy version of justice?)

The Hoyt Boys seem to enjoy the spotlight and the perks of powerful wealth as much as their "uncle bubba". They didn't fall too far from thier Uncle's Family Tree. "Good Ole Boy" Bill has had his share of discreet offenses. The perk of his social position is that "Good Ole Unca Bubba" can QUASH the press and pay-off his victims. Is that the true meaning of Justice????

This opinion Relates to the recent news coverage soon to be quashed from public view:
Bryson City man served w/30+ Sexual Charges

The Trouble with Student Loans and Grants?

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

If the world suddenly turned "perfect" and everyone gained equal access and abilities, I imagine there would still be some complainers.
Because if our memories weren't erased , the wealthy and socialites would realise thier loss and the poor and under-educated would rejoice thier gains. Eventually someone would say "what's the difference, there is still plenty to complain about".
We haven't reached "Perfection" yet, though many of us make huge efforts to accomplish equality.

Elected officials have recently made some "huge efforts":
* to establish some form of health care support for "all Americans",
*to aid the under-paid in financial matters through stimulus plans and Banking regulation.
* to improve economy and job markets and help promote financial independence for all Americans.
*to insure that any American who desires an education can get one through student loans and grants.

That said....
Do you think there is a way to make these programs a little less complicated to access?

For example:
FAFSA offers grants to citizens who qualify for aid based on their minimum earnings claimed on income tax filings.
THEN
In the ideal circumastance students choose a University, college or trade school and begin thier program. Ideally the funds are sent to the school of choice to cover tuition, and expenses.

My Question: who keeps tabs on the schools when they dont follow or dont understand the rules of FAFSA and Sallie Mae? If the funds are sent to the "accredited" school and the school keeps the money but demands more money from the student (or denies the student access to the classes through lengthy appeals & extensive and confusing bureaucracies), where does the student go for help to clear up matters?
If the school confuses enrollment procedures to the point that the poverty stricken and uneducated cant navigate it (and then keeps the "piles of loan & grant money" )who checks up on that?
when the school causes more financial trouble for the student already poverty stricken, where does the student turn?

After all when a student signs for a student loan, and the school gets the loan money... the student is responsible for paying back the money whether or not they ever got the education. If the school complicates the system to the point that the student is not able to attend the classes, after the school has already recieved the money and keeps it, where does the student go for mediation? Where can a student get an appeal process started for investigating the schools ethical procedures.
I realise that i formerly mentioned a few other points. But during the course of this essay, I have become aware of the broadness of this subject and feel the need to point out my thankfulness for small favors.

I am thankful.
I truly am thankful for being a survivor, for random acts of kindness from strangers, for a few true friends and for each day which wakes me with fresh chances to find new advntures and begin life all over again.

No matter what color we are, we all live in the American community.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?
No matter what color we are, we all live in the American community.
If we want to reap the benefits, we should join the team.

Is it prejudice for U.S. to feel offended at migrants who want all the advantages but make no effort to show that they "want to belong"
I am totally against violence of any kind. I'm trying to look at the reason for some of the objections as recently were proposed in Arizona.

In light of recent focus on Tim James and his English Only Driver Licensing Idea.
I began to ponder the reasons that America has problems with Immigrants.
I do not believe that the issue is "prejudice". I think its convenient for newcomers to accuse Americans of that in order to play on our sympathies, and to reap the benefits of our services (which were, by the way meant to be temporary and in extreme case of emergency)
The problem is not that we dont want to help the pverty stricken, the problem is that "refugees" who dont enter America legally complicate the system for people who were born in the US. Natural Anericans may become afflicted with some financial or physical handicaps may have more difficulty getting access to much needed help due to the bureaucracy which tries to cater to all and also cull out the illegalities. The illegal immigrants, and poverty stricken newcomers bog down the government for benefits when they havent "paid anything" into the system. And when they do begin to earn pay... they dont always contribute to the US community, (but instead take they take thier profits of the American education & wages back to their own country).
A lot of them don't seem to want to make an effort to learn our language or "dress like their neighbors.
I agree w/ Arizona's Superintendent of education. there shouldn't be any segregating schools. Everyone lives in the same community, we should all learn the full course of history and not separate into " segregated tribes or cultures".

Our country has become a destination of refugees to the point that our cities, schools and government services are bursting at the seams. It could possibly become a point of the demise of the services we offer to the poor and elderly of our communities. While we appreciate the fact that immigrants "come to America", in search of thier "dreams" , the bitter truth is that that a lot of them come here without a dime, nor any education. In turn they accept cheap wages and/or expect our government to support their needs and wants.

In the meantime they do very little to show thier gratitude. While the immigrants take advantage of government welfare and education, they dont try to blend into the melting pot at all. They continue to isolate themselves from the neighbors whom they expect to support them. When people dont try to learn the language continually dress significantly different than the people around them, can they really justify a complaint that people are prejudice.
It's not prejudice for Americans to feel uncomfortable around a "newcomer" who wants all the advantages but isn't making an effort to show that they "want to belong" and contribute to the progress and prosperity of the community.

internet personality "tests"

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

I just took one of those internet personality "tests" .
We all know this form of internet interaction being used as a form of keeping in touch (as opposed to sending an actual note where we formally ask how someone is and tell them how we feel)

Anyway, my test told me that I am a
Garfield :

(Which went on to say: )
"very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to have fun but....may take it to an extreme. (and in addition)  would always know what you are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn't mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others. "

As I read it I wondered who had decided this was me and what they had based the analysis on?
After all I have never had any contact (that I'm aware of) with the entity which composed this "fun little forward" and I started to wonder how many people actually take this sort of thing seriously.  How many people are "hurt" by this game?

General Thoughts During The Course Of A Cold Boring Day.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?
It is extremely cold at my present residence, I  noticed by the weather forecast that neighbors all around me are probably contemplating hybernation until the spring thaw.  While there are lots of things we can do in our woolen socks and snuggly bathrobes, there are only so many "good books" to read and favorite re-runs one can watch. I usually start the morning with the warm cup of coffee and the newspaper, then return some phone calls, reply to emails, I check my "to do" list for drips in the sink and light bulbs that need replacing. and then I put on a pot of something steamy and aromatic to tempt me into a fit of hunger. (as if I need an excuse to eat comfort food)
These cold winter days offer us a retreat from all the work, worry and hurry days. They give us time to reflect on what we really want to do with our lives. These solitary days, whether locked in with our families or locked tight away all alone give us time to think about what really matters to us.

As I sip my morning coffee, I think of my dad and all the cold days just like these that  he got up so early and
warmed the battered old jalopy that barely got him to work every day. But get there,  he did and he came home every Friday with a check to spend on us.
I think of my mother, (mama, we called her). Yes, I remember mama; as clearly as the author "Kathryn Forbes"  remembered hers.  I remember how she always knew how to make a cold day fun and interesting. My mama had such an imagination... then she became ill. I remember her last day on this earth. She was wrapped in sweaters on a cold day like this one.  so early one morning that it was still dark out.... Daddy was out warming the car and mama was worried about us kids.... "You make sure  you make up with Rebecca" she said. (it was all about a spat we had a few days earlier) somehow I dont remember the spat....but I remember mama, I wrapped her scarf around her head... kissed her and hugged her (but not for long enough.)  Daddy rolled her out to the car in her wheel chair for another trip to dialysis. She got home around lunch time, but she couldn't wait for my work day to be done. She passed away before I could clock out at the end of the day. Things like that make jobs seems so insignificant.

I remember cold holidays with friends... Like Mary Hoyt who lived on Emory Circle in Atlanta. She was certainly the social butterfly... She managed to care for her aging parents, two grown sons, her husband and a full time job, as well as entertain 1/2 Atlanta at her cozy little cottage across from Emory University. Its so easy for people to get caught up in gossip and jealousy. People can be pretty cruel if they put thier mind to it. Mary had her share of spats and manipulations, but these phases passed through her just as surely as the cold North Wind blows through winter into spring. She brushed her hair from her face in the manner of Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind" and smiled her way right back into the hearts of those she had just devoured. She was honored at the hospital (where she worked until her death) with a memorial painting of a scene she had dreamt of. Cancer took her shortly after that. She'd buried her parents, made up w/ a long lost brother and arranged for her sons and husband to be provided for. Once again "work" seems very insignificant in this scheme of such things.
There are so many people who come and go in our lives.... Some who don't care to be involved with us....some afraid to admit that they wish they could have one more chance with us. When I really think about it, I just wonder what we really save ourselves from when we let our fears, pride and discomfort keep us from reaching out to those we long to be close to. What's the point of sitting like a knot on a log daring the other person to apologise first?
When it's my turn to go quietly into the night, I wonder if there will be a chance after this life to make up for lost time? Another winters day has just come to a close. I watch the winter sun slide over the mountain, and as I sip my wine, and I wonder what reminds the world of my existence besides the candles that I light and place in my window every night.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

Americans need relief.
Employment. Health Care and a Home Of Their Own.

In Reference To : IRAQ etc.?
World Peace begins at home. Think about it. How have we stopped mass shootings and burning towers by sending our soldiers to attack and police some other country's people.

In Reference to : Healthcare. Hospitals Drs & Insurance.
WHY does it take 2000 pgs to resolve a case of Big Business overcharging America for Healthcare?

Tiger Woods... if you want to be normal, get a normal job and no one will care what u do except your wife.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

I love reading the comments of  Bob  Schieffer. So often I find that we think alike. Mr. Schieffer tells it like it is, plain and simple.  His comments on the "Tiger" situation describe my sentiments exactly. When you "choose" to sign-on for "extra-ordinary"  benefits, perks and wages, it "should be" assumed that you are willing to attempt to behave like an "extra-ordinary" person.
If you are going to whine, complain and gripe about the demands of  "your job" , do what the rest of us do.
Quit the job and get one you are happy with. Sometimes the change results in a cut in pay, benefits and perks.
Sacrifices have to be made in every situation. You chose to live the billionaire life. You can either work the billionare job or give the billions back and live the day to day life that your lowly fans have to live.

Healthcare affects the community. MAMOGRAMS, SAVE LIVES.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

The USA was  founded on diversity of beliefs, hard to believe that 200+ yrs later,  each of us still wants to control the  individual thoughts and beliefs of others.
Come on America stop feeding the frenzy that media and the legislatures ignite.
Dont fall for the petty issues they bait us with.
Make them stick to the issues that are important. Dont get sidetracked on issues resticting individual choices.
Neighbors are arguing over issues of individual right and choice while in Washington  the politicians continue to use our bickering as cover for thier inappropriate encroachments. And as they study more and more ways to restrict the freedoms of the people who elected them, they also bury loopholes which permit them to escape the restrictions they impose.

Healthcare is an issue which affects the community. DISEASE is contageous, MAMOGRAMS, while a matter of indiv choice,  have been proven to save lives. But as long as they have us argue over validity of these issues, THEY (the legislatures) dont have to accept rsponsibility for the welfare of the community (THEY WERE ELECTED TO SERVE).
As long as we argue over petty differences, they can continue to take  "hiatus, holiday parties, company perks and big business pay-offs".  They can  set up thier so-called committees which are fattened with the money that could have funded the education of our children and the medical programs which could have saved the lives of our families and ourselves.

I dont believe that America  should have been established  for the benefit of the few who wield thier ill gotten power or use thier money (gained from exploiting the "have-nots") for the purpose of self gratification.

I do not think that the law is written only for those who can pay a judge and lawyer to make changes to an agreement behind closed doors.
But as long as we close our eyes to the truth behind the current arguments, these things will continue to happen.
Come on Americans, TAKE THE CHIPS  OFF YOUR SHOULDERS, GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND AND LETS KEEP THE INSTIGATORS (the politicians) FOCUSED ON THE ISSUES WE ELECTED THEM TO RESOLVE.

TARP Money Suggestions:  America, Isn't There A Better Way?
I was recently asked:

What would you suggest should be done with leftover $200 billion TARP money?

Dear President Obama and Current Legislature:

Invest in America. Create a lottery for the best new inventions. The potential winners would  submit estimated production costs and ideas on manufacturing, A committee would review the submissions and grant the money to the best of the best for start-up and hiring employees. The grant money would have to be re-paid to the fund for future recipients.

Invest in scientific research for new ideas on safe fuels for transportation, agricultural production to feed the hungry and organized ways to save health care costs . The best of the best would get grants to hire help and build the companies for research and manufacturing purposes on the condition that the grant would be repaid for future recipients.

The panel of judges who decide who qualifies to get the grant would be business people who had a proven track record of sound judgement, honesty, impartial fairness and previous success.

This idea would put the focus back where it belongs... On America as a team with common purpose.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

Who is really controlling the Economy and Healthcare?

Do we (the taxpayers) send checks, meal plans or plane tickets in our letters to our representatives?
NO.
We assume that our tax money and our votes are enough to secure the loyalty of those we elect to represent us. But… wait did we really elect these people ?

Lately we find more and more reasons to doubt the intentions of those "entrusted to create our laws".

We have learned that the popular vote may OR may not count.
I guess it depends on who is monitoring (or patronizing) the ELECTORAL COLLEGE.

After we calm down from the agitation that our vote doesn't always count.
Our conformity and support of the "winner" still may not guarantee rulings in favor of the "general public."

(General Public being those of us who make less than a MILLION a year.)

Let's face it, Insurance Companies, Banks and Other Big Business Companies can offer those lawmakers much more than we can. They can walk into each of the legislative offices bringing gifts, $$, and other commodities.
Do you think that any of us would not be tempted to sell out the future of our country, and of our children for a few wonderful years of being "wined and dined ".

The reality (America) is that the gaps between the have(s) and have-nots
are never going to decrease.
ACCESS to Healthcare will never be distributed with equally.
Wages and ownership will never be shared.
In life as in football it's “take the ball and run” or “get sacked” while your not looking.
“It’s easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission”
Life is not a game for those who play fair.

THE POOR will always be LESS EDUCATED, and PUNISHED more severely.

This is the way the world works. Just ask the politicians.

Corrupt Unlawful Actions Banks And Big Business

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

Corrupt, unlawful actions and yet no one is going to Prison.
Could this also explain why the lawmakers are creating laws against the voters instead of regulating Big Business, Insurance, Banks, and Car Companies?

Swayed by the payments, the county commissioners voted to select JPMorgan's securities division as managing underwriter of the bond offerings and its affiliated bank as swap provider for the transactions, the SEC said.
JPMorgan failed to disclose any of the ??unlawful payments?? or conflicts of interest in the bond offering documents, but passed on the cost of the payments by charging the county higher interest rates on the swap transactions, according to the SEC.
"The transactions were complex but the scheme was simple," SEC Enforcement Director Robert Khuzami said in a statement. "Senior JPMorgan bankers made unlawful payments to win business and earn fees."
MacFaddin's attorney, Richard Lawler, said his client "has at all times acted properly" in his dealings with Jefferson County. "He denies he has violated any securities laws and we're confident he'll be vindicated after trial," Lawler said.

Orrin Hatch in Health Care Reform

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

: Orrin Hatch in Health Care Reform on Nov 3, 2009
as a letter to the editor in the Washington Post
His "quote" is posted below my comments.

It's a great thought Mr Hatch.
Everybody knows what shouldn't, couldn't,wouldn't be done.
But what will solve our predicament?
How long should we consult economists on the best way to revive the economy.
Should the constituents just sit on the curb and wait until you geniuses tell us what's left in the pot for us after all of you get through pilfering?

Maybe people would be happier to live in poverty if we put your sentiments in song.
We elected you to "fix these things" what happened?

"...that individuals purchase health insurance an "unprecedented form of federal action." It still is. The Congressional Research Service concluded this year that "it is a novel issue whether Congress may use [the commerce] clause to require an individual to purchase a good or service."
The fact that Massachusetts required health insurance coverage is irrelevant. States may do many things that the federal government may not. Nor is this anything like requiring car insurance, which affects only those who drive and, again, is imposed by the states.
If there is no difference between regulating and requiring, between incentives and mandates, then there was no need for "Cash for Clunkers." Congress could simply have required people to buy certain cars or, for that matter, to invest in certain companies or deposit their paychecks in certain banks. The Constitution does not mean whatever Congress wants it to mean; instead it sets limits on the federal government in order to protect liberty."

The Noble Nicole Kidman RE: Marriage

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

I dont know what the rest of this article was like. But statements like the ones I have chosen to publish here is what America needs more of.
Kudos to the Noble Nicole Kidman. The Article is printed in GQ MAGAZINE.
According to an interview in British GQ, Nicole Kidman Stated:

'You work on it,' she went on...(to say). 'It's a very extraordinary, adventurous place to be: incredibly raw, incredibly dangerous and you're very much out at sea. You're exposed. You could drown.'

'When you commit to someone like that, you live and die together by that decision.'

Asked about her first marriage to Tom Cruise, she stayed mum on their split. 'I want to honour that marriage for what it was, and there is nothing I would go into about that. I have never discussed it and I never will,' the actress said.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?

Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina said people tell her they are frightened of the health care bill to be debated by the House. (RE: CNN Ticker)
FOXX DELIVERS FIRST SPEECH ON HOUSE FLOOR, CALLS FOR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE REFORM  http://www.foxx.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=55§iontree=54,55&itemid=67

Quote from Ms. Foxx
"The escalating cost of health care is a major concern "
"Due to an onslaught of frivolous lawsuits, our physicians are being forced to pay exorbitant premiums on their liability insurance. The rates have risen so high that many family practitioners and OB/GYNs are being forced to retire early or simply go out of business. Doctors are refusing to deliver babies or perform surgery because they’re afraid of being sued. This is especially a problem in our rural communities where many doctors are sole practitioners.  Just as alarming, our medical school enrollments are on the decline, which will limit the health care available to our future generations."

She seems to say that there is a need for MORE LAWS to restrict citizens' lawsuits.
Lawmakers seem to turn a deaf ear to the fact that INSURANCE PREMIUMS will always go up no matter how many laws you pass against the people who PAY THEM.
What prevents them from exploring REGULATING THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY and  MEDICAL CARE COSTS?

America, Isn't There A Better Way?
Follow the link to see what happened to our tax ("bail-out") money.
Do you suppose they spent it all on "bonuses" and "so-called" meetings at Disney Land?

CIT Group Files Bankruptcy, Seeks to Cut $10 Billion in Debt
http://www.bloomberg.com/

Public Option? Health Care Crisis.

America, Isn't There A Better Way?
It is easy for Joe Lieberman to say that we don’t need public healthcare. He has a regular paycheck, insurance and access to the best healthcare.
He also represents a state which prospers from the insurance premiums. According to news reports the majority of insurance firms are based in Connecticut, because of the lax laws they have concerning the liability of insurance companies.
Could it be that the insurance companies and medical corps have bribed the lawmakers out of giving the general public some much needed assistance???
In addition to the legislature having "us the taxpayers" bail out banks and car manufacturers, they have ignored the fact that we "the taxpayers" don’t have jobs, and the banks are still repossessing our homes even though we will be paying their debts through “higher taxes.”
How do the "lawmakers" propose that we afford to pay for day to day necessities much less health insurance?
This is just another example of what is reported everyday about
politicians, who take more than they need while they try to pass laws for rationing what is left of the necessities to the “rest of us”.
The legislatures seem to have no sense of morality, but never-the-less are entrusted to write the laws (to protect society) which they (the lawmakers) seem not to obey nor abide.

Crime and Punishment

Justice Facts said...
This essay is not meant to be read as a complaint, nor stereotypical opinion of the population in general.
But there are days when even the optimist would feel that society is at the mercy of the actions and behaviors of a few.
For example, when considering the news coverage concerning the state of the economy, public health, and issues of immigration; hoarding and lack of benevolence seem to be among the most significant behaviors of the leaders of our population.
Bankers, medical staffers, insurance companies, and politicians take more than they need while they attempt to pass laws for rationing what is left of the necessities to the “rest of us”
And speaking of law, doesn’t society of late bombard us with too much of "the law"?
If we were to be honest, wouldn't we all admit that there are just a few too many "laws"? Criminal Justice? What is that? What makes one human more worthy to create, to judge and even to "enforce" these laws.
Every station on the television network seems to be seething with "crime investigators" . The majority of news reported is "law enforcement stories" . Are the citizens of America so evil that we warrant more surveillance, phone tappings and more jails.

Our minds are filled to the brim with "cops who lie to trap lying criminals". We read daily of judges who sentence the impoverished, powerless, ignorant or otherwise disadvantaged, while letting the "wealthier and more popular" walk free for similar and sometimes worse offenses.
Prime time news programs investigate stories about politicians who seem to have no sense of morality, but never-the-less are entrusted to write the laws which they (the lawmakers) seem not to obey, nor abide.
Just this morning I turned on the news to hear a man report the he had been arrested for overlooking the fact that he should close his curtains in case someone should decide to wander through his back yard and peer through his window. This would seem a little backwards to me. I always pictured the "peeper" to be the "pervert". Children who watch"cops" and probably wary of the iron fist neglect to tell on peers for gang violence and are arrested for not cooperationg with "law enforcers".

Recently we saw legislatures debate the need for a law to prosecute people more effectively for hurting another on the basis of race or sexual preference. Could this be due to the fact that this is tier majority, not the majority of the general public.

I guess my point is that if we should be “damned for our sins” (as the law sees fit to say), how many ways can you persecute someone for the same offense?
Why isn't everyone punished equally?
Do harsher penalties stop the judges from impending them carlessly?
In the event that the "criminal" survives time served, who has compassion for him/her once they are released. "the record" is permanent and so is punishement. How can a person find employment after being "labeled a criminal" by the very people who unfairly let their own "contacts" go free.
Doesn't the law cause some of the hardships they seek to remedy?

Where is the “chance for redemption” or even “forgiveness”?
When will the law be just?
When will society learn that condemnation is not THE ONLY Alternative, but part of the problem.
If the law is specifically black and white then shouldn’t we all be damned to hell for our first evil thought? Aren’t we all evil at some moment in our lives?

How many laws will it take to change the world ?
